May Technical- Could be called an aural wine-tasting experience . Ben Mcklveen (of the Cincinnati chapter) and Ben Wiant (of our Columbus Chapter) teaming up for a session on quality listening. The purpose is to examine the qualities of good piano tone and illustrate that there is no one perfect sound for the piano. For this class, we will play short excerpts of music from a number of different concert grands, all played by top tier pianists. Discussion will follow.
Ben Mcklveen has been a technician in Cincinnati for 57 years, was Institute Director for five National Institutes, and taught classes with Bob Russell Sr. during the '70's and early '80's.
Ben Wiant is a highly respected and talented
technician who does most of the artist work in Columbus and the Grand Teton Summer
Festival in Wyoming each summer.
Presidents Message
Greetings, as spring is upon us, it is time to start making our plans to attend the National Convention and Institute June 15-19 in Kansas City. In additional to the great technical classes offered, you have a wonderful opportunity to tour our new home office building. Located in the building is our piano museum, which is adding new attractions every year. To become the best technicians we can be requires constant nurturing and motivation. I can’t think of a better way to recharge our batteries than to attend the annual convention every year.
Bob Russell, RPT
