Technical this month, (courtesy of Tony Mastadonna at Steinway Hall) will  feature Blaine Hebert, Acoustic Piano Service Manager for Samick.  Blaine is the person we contact for any of the Samick products.  The technical will cover the new scale design for the Kohler and Knabe grands, as well as any questions you may have about the Samick pianos. Also on hand will be Ken Ambrose, Vice President of the Acoustic Piano Division and Kent Holland, Regional Sales Representative

Blaine Hebert was born in southern Louisiana's Cajun country to a family of piano technicians. Accompanying his father and grandfather to tunings since early childhood he has studied and serviced pianos most of his life. In 1973 he apprenticed under Steinway trained technicians in the service and rebuilding shop of Whittle Music Company of Dallas, Texas, then began work with his father in the Dallas area, eventually moving his business to Southern California in 1975.   He works throughout the Southern California area and his clients include music stores, colleges, music schools, recording studios, hotels, musicians and teachers.

Blaine specializes in repairs and restoration of modern and historic keyboard and violin family instruments and is also an expert on insects infesting pianos and museum collections and their eradication. He holds a Master's Degree in Science from Cal State University, Northridge.


The following night, Tuesday, March 15, Pellegrino Music in Canton will host Don Manino, head technician for Kawai. Don will be presenting the Shiguro  Kawai grand and addressing any questions concerning the Kawai pianos.  Pellegrino will be providing dinner, so they would appreciate an RSVP.  Their phone number is 330-498-8400; address:  5040 EVERHARD RD NW, CANTON. 5PM start time. Pellegrino Music is in the Belden Village area, off Route 77, turn right at the Everhard exit.  They are on the left side of the road a  mile down and at the corner of Everhard and Fulton.

 
We are lucky to have two technical reps in the area.  These guys are seeing the process from the factory side and know their products well. Thanks to Tony Mastadonna and Jerry Pellegrino for bringing Blain and Don into the area.            Stu Freedman
