President's Message

Let's talk about associate members upgrading to RPT. It's easier than you think. The first step is  simply taking the written test. There are
100 questions, mostly multiple choice to answer.  This  is a good indicator of whether you are ready to take the other two parts of the test. Simply contact me at a meeting or privately to take the written test at or before our monthly meetings. You can also request a separate time for maximum privacy. Your test results are kept completely private.  The board and I are interested in doing everything we can to help you succeed! There is also a study guide to help you study for the written test. We also have a mentoring program developed by Bob Bergantino to help you through all parts of the test. All you have to do is contact me or any member of the board to get started.

Getting IT done...what a brilliant ad campaign. So much information is around us that we can take  IT for granted.  The guild, from individual members to national organization, is gathering and  disseminating information for us, the Information Technologist, to use.

How often does this happen: You are out on a job and something is not right with the action.  It has all the parts in the right places; but something is all wrong.  You go home and start digging in old journal or the   PTG.org website or the   CD compendium of   Journal articles.  Maybe you call another technician and puzzle it out together.

Getting   IT done...so simple, we can forget how amazing     IT is to have all this information right at our finger tips.

The October meeting and technical will be hosted by Don Dusenbury.  Don will present a look at the digital/mechanical world evolving in player units.  This will be an interesting evening of digital  tech application to analog tech sound production.

Also, don't forget about the regional seminar in Indianapolis  (October 7-10), and the North Carolina regional seminar in   High Point  (October 28-31).

I am going to the seminar in Indianapolis and have room in my car.  If you are interested in sharing a ride, call me 330-376-3373.
