Butts and Flanges; Newsletter of
The Cleveland Chapter of the PTG

Meeting Monday May 10th 2004 will be another travel adventure as we go to Kent State University.

We are guests of  Blaine Vesely at KSU.  His piano shop located on campus in the Music and Speech Center.
Get a good look around and a bite to eat (should be Pizza night) starting at 7pm.
Meeting and Tech begins at 8pm

Technical will be in two parts.  Part A  involves voicing relatively new pianos. Areas explored will range from 30-minute "quick prep" hammer work to pre-voicing techniques.  Victim will be a Yamaha C2 grand.  Part B will be repairs often found on harpsichords. For those not familiar with harpsichords, there will be two very different instruments: 1989 Martin French Double and an early 60's Challis with metal soundboard and bridge.

One other thing.  Do  bring your own favorite voicing tools. I have quite a few different tools, but I only have one brass level used for string leveling. It would be ideal to have 3 sets of tools, especially levels, so that people could break into three different classrooms and try using what they saw on a piano.          Blaine Vesely

Parking

Do not park in any area where signs indicate that an R4 parking permit is required at all times. Look for yellow signs that indicate R4 parking permits required from 7 to 4 pm, or choose a Commuter lot.  There should be plenty of parking spaces with school finished, so you do not have to park in the paid meter area, unless you want to support parking services.

The Music and Speech Building
(
is a very big building.)

The School of Music is located in the wing of the building on the north side next to Hwy 59.  I will put signs on the doors showing people where to go.

      Update on Lynn Gilmore

Hi, Don,
Lynn is getting stronger each day.  I believe I told you he came home again the 17th of April.  He went to church last Sunday, and we had brunch at a restaurant afterward.  He has been walking in the mall, and started rehab Monday.  He will have that M-W-F for 8 weeks.  They worked him pretty hard Monday, and some muscles are saying, "Ouch!" today, but that should get better.  He is hoping to be able to drive before too much longer.

Please tell everyone that we appreciate so very much their prayers, phone calls, good wishes in cards and e-mails--most especially the prayers.  We know that they have been answered.  Please keep Lynn in your thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery.
