The PTG is for all of us, I only volunteered to turn our questions into the technical portion of the meeting. I can’t do this by myself, so please attend the meeting on August 9th.

President's Message
Greetings, I hope all of you are enjoying this wonderful summer. The Nashville convention was phenomenal. Great classes, renewing friendships, dessert receptions in the evening. Life is grand! The best part about attending the annual convention is the motivation it gives us to strive for excellence in our businesses and for PTG.
To energize our chapter to strive for excellence, I thought it would be fun to have a theme for this year. The theme will be called “RPT Pride.” We can start by asking all our RPT members to wear their RPT pins to all meetings and chapter functions this year. In addition, I would like to have an RPT speak for a few minutes at each meeting about the personal growth they have experienced by becoming an RPT. Our board members have many additional ideas that we can talk about in the weeks ahead to help and encourage our associate members to upgrade to RPT. We RPTs simply want to demonstrate with pride our commitment to helping our associate members enjoy the same degree of technical and personal growth that we have experienced through becoming an RPT. Being an RPT is not just about credentials. It is about leadership. Demonstrating leadership in our chapter is very important, not only for our organization, but for our personal development as technicians and as members of the musical community.
At our August meeting, lets have some great food, talk about the exciting technical programs that we want to see this year, and show our “RPT Pride ” in everything we do!

This will be the first of monthly (maybe!) articles for our newsletter. It will show up in the meeting notice to get the ol’ brain juices moving and hopefully stimulate discussion. I hope to include industry info, upcoming seminars, topics of interest, and an editorial comment or two. So, let’s go…
Did you know Samick acquired Young Chang? Sales and marketing will remain separate, while warehousing and technical support may be shared. They have opened a new 50,000-square-foot distribution center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Samick also acquired Bechstein.
Kawai is restructuring its manufacturing with upright production moving to Indonesia. They will be closing U.S. upright production by 2005, as well as their Japanese upright plant.
What does this mean for us? I don’t know. But I always find this stuff interesting and sometimes we do get affected when it comes to getting parts or technical info. My news source is The Music Trades, June 2004. What are you reading concerning our industry and our ability to advance our craft? Send me articles, sources, or links, and I’ll include them here.
