Jeff Samuel is no stranger to the studio.  Most recently he has released the "Blap EP" which is featured on Steve Bug's poular German tech-house label, Poker Flat.  He also has a growing list of accomplishments in the studio with signature tracks that range from dubby house to minimal and tech releases, including "New Joob" (2001) on Daniel Bell's (DBX) label 7th City and a number of releases on Trapez which palys host to the quirkier sounds of techno.  With artists such as Ricardo Villalobos and Michael Mayer remixing his work and DJ's such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Josh Wink, Timo Maas, Electric Indigo, and Steve Bug charting his records, it is quite apparent that Jeff is a key palyer in techno (and the subgenres that surround it) which many labels and artits want to keep up with.  He also dabbles in the downtempo genre (releases on Emoticon) in his spare time proving that he has quite a gift for creating and also knowing what music will work anywhere for dancefloors to everyday listening environments.

Jeff Samuel's background in music all began from the date of birth, born and raised in the rock capital of the U.S., Cleveland, Ohio.  His current studio owrk just may be the actual contrary to the rock and hip hop influences of his earlier days, luckily for us, Jeff because drawn to techno in the mid 1990's and credits much of that to the techno events thrown by the Columbus collective-- ele mental.  The Collective included such artisit as Titonton Duvante, Todd Sines, and Charles Noel (Archetype).  It was a first time experience hearing Detroit legend, Claude Young and he was instantly hooked.

Moving fast forward tot he present, the former Ohio native soon packed up his bags shortly in 2003 and headed out west to Seattle to pursue a second career in the video game industry, where he spends his days creating video game sound effects.  Jeff also has a current bi-weekly residency in Seattle (Club Contour) where has the opportunity to influence the local sound with a consistent music policy of tech-house and electron.  If the crowd is up for it, you could even possibly catch Jeff using some of his unitque trick-oriented elements of mixing (Detroit style) which is something he attributes to some of his influential favorites such as Derrick May and Jeff Mills.

During his career, some of his highlights come from having the opportunity to take his music all over the world, from gigs in LA, Chicago, Montreal, New York to Japan and takes great pride in having the chance to be a part of the 7th City events at the original DEMF events in Detroit.  With plans to continue to push his quality sound out into more record releases in the new year, we shoudl also expect a full European Tour in Spring 2004.  In a competitive market wher present day techno is heavily influenced by the sounds of Germany, this American producer has been able to reach fans of all spectrums, all over the globe through his diverse background and talent-Jeff Samuel is definitely one to watch out for in the studio and on the decks, don't miss out on this talented star!

" "Kluppa" is even better, percolating tech-house buttah that has the relentless momentum of an
elite marathoner striding
downhill.  Like all of
Samuel's work, it's tidy
and effective, and that's
why intelligent DJ's like
Triple R love him.  You
should, too."
