Horse Racing is a great sport. To me, the most exciting horses in racing are the "closers". Strike the Gold is the greatest closer I have ever seen. Strike the Gold would often fall 20 to 30 lengths behind the field on the backstretch. He would make one run at the far turn - sometimes he would get there - sometimes he wouldn't. I used to love watching Strike the Gold run his unique style of race and I miss him to this day.
This inspired me to follow his offspring as they
came to the races. Most of Strike the Gold's progeny are closers too. Who
knows, maybe one of these late developing colts, geldings or fillies will be 5 wide and
"closing" in a future Kentucky Derby.
