HARDY BADGERS
Phoenix Challenge 2006
Tollymore Park Newcastle Co. Down
17th Aug - 21st Aug 06
The Hardy Badgers qualified for the all ireland patrol challenge last May 2006 when they finished 2nd in the the carlow kilkenny scout county shield called the sherwood cup.  The competition was run over 4 days in Co. Down, the hardy badger patrol made up of 8 members of the 3rd carlow Borris scout troop.
The Hardy Badgers put alot of work in since last spetember as normal in Borris scout patrols when the patrol finished 2nd in our county shield the patrol was very dissapointed but they felt they had a point to make in Co. Down.  No Patrol had finished lower than 25th in a Patrol challenge in the histroy of the competition so this was the target to beat for the Hardy Badgder..... the amount of work and effort that our scouts put in was amazing and inspiring.  Everything that they did was fantastic from their costumes, sheilds, meal, campsite and the fun they had.
The Patrol finished joint 19th in the competition.  1st overall in the crafts, 4th overall in the hike and 28th overall in the campsite.  The patrol was made up of 3 snr members and 4 brand new scouts to scouting last september.
Thanks to  ll the scouts for their effort in the competion and how professional they approached the competition.
They would also like to thank the following for their help
All parents and families for their help making costimes, sheilds and signs
Joe Skelton for transporting the equipment to Down.
Angela Nolan for do lots of journeys for the scouts the week before.
Wexford Hertiage centre for a loan of their costumes and props as per photo above.... they were authentic and fab.
