| What is Scouts all About ? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Are you young, energetic and looking for an adrenaline rush? 2. Do you want to get out and about and enjoy a challenge? 3. Are you bored and need something to give you a buzz? 4. Want to make new and exciting friends |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If you answer YES to any of the above then scouts is for you, just ask anyone that is currently in scouts or was previously a scout if you have any questions. 3rd Carlow Borris Scouts meet on Tuesday Nights at 8pm in the Old School in Borris. (Scouts are back on the 19th Sept 2006) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The scout section is for young people, aged between 11 and 16 years old. The scout troop is the third and final section in a scout group. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of the scout programme. ?Participation? rather than meeting set standards is the key approach and for the scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are a number of challenges awards and activity badges. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps them develop their creative talents.; It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Being outdoors is important and half the programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to canoeing to hill walking to surfing. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The international aspect gives scouting a special appeal and many scouts now travel abroad during their time in the section. As part of our programme in 3rd Carlow Borris we have visited Scotland, France, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy in the last 7 years with a trip planned to Switzerland next year. Scouts is about being with friends, making new friends as part of a team and participating fully in the adventure and opportunities that life throws at us. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3rd Carlow Borris Scouts are also looking for leaders aged 18+ to help out in creating an energetic and exciting program for the scouts?. Don?t be afraid to just pop in any Tuesday Night after the 19th September 06. Visit our website for an idea of the events and activities that we part take in: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
