| In August of 2002 the Borris scouts had their summer camp in the Gorge of the Tarn river in the south of France. This trip was run through the JEKA holiday group who arranged accomadation, travel, food, insurance and activities for us.... basically did everything. The scouts were saving for this trip for 18 months prior to the camp and using their own words it was worth every penny of it too... After along 16hour Bus ride this was our first stop in France...... somewhere near Amiens. Image 38 scouts cramped in the one bus for this long..... so it was a well deserved break at this stage. |

| There is not many scouts that can say they spent a day on the beach in the French Riveria... We travelled to Cap de Aqu for Aqua World (slides and rides)..... we then headed to the beach where the scouts got to swim in the Med and bury the scouts in the sand...... Thats John Flood up to his neck? |

| Our House in Les Vignes "Cheynee", this was a lovely house, what you are looking here is the leaders room which looks like an old farm house from the outside but was a lovely finish on the inside, the house fitted all 37 of us comfortably.... The town of Les Vignes was a lovely quiet town, 2 pubs, 1 hotel, a shop and a post office made up the town. A lovely weir o the river created a lovely swimming area for the scouts evening activities. The town was 10 min walk from the house. The town is situated about 1hr drive north of the mediterraninean..... |

| The first activity of the week on the river TARN. 12 mile canoe trip which turned out to be a fun activity for all.... pity the instructor couldnt speak english though. A lovely 32 degree day made it even nicer for the scouts to be in the water. |

| Brian (Wexford Jersey), Lar and John ready to head off up the gorge on a days mountain biking. The road up the gorge was about 8 miles long up hill like the tour de France. Some of us ended up walking the route but at the top the views were well worth the trip up, where we got close to the Vultures that live at the top of the gorge. The trip down the gorge was literly deadly with some 180 degree bends and narrow roads...... which irronically was the highlight of the trip. |

What is all this madness i hear you ask.... well on the last night the girls came to me and said they wanted to have an entertainment nite and i told them the world is their oyster..... so they decided to have a drag show. We had 6 entries...... and they were all so funny, Lar won the competition Martin came 2nd Brian 3rd and john 4th.... Now thats what scouts is all about ehhh ?? |
