Greetings and Welcome. I am so glad you could join me today. Won't you please be seated and stay awhile? By the way, did you remember to bring your Bible, pen, pencil and pad. Oh? You didn't know you would be invited to stay for a study session? :-) Well, shall we begin?Let us have a word of prayer ~
Gracious God, our Father. We bow before your presence with thanksgiving right now. For we realize that without you we could not do anything. And we confess, Lord, that we do not even want to be without you in every area of our lives. We invite your presence and ask you to grant your own revelation Holy Ghost power. Bless this time of study in a mighty way, we pray, for we give you all the praise, glory, and honor that is due your Holy name. And we ask it all in Jesus's name. Amen. Amen.
As you take out your Bible and open it, let me ask you this? What kind of study are you expecting to have here? What revelatory Word from God do you desire in order to have a fuller portion of His Spirit in your own life? Perhaps you are used to having to study. Used to hitting the books with long hours and hard study periods. Used to giving up a whole lot of your free time in order to be able "to rightly divide the Word of truth" and to more skillfully wield "the sword of The Spirit" (you can start by looking up those Biblical texts in quotes).
You know, all of that may be true. But you know what? The Holy Spirit impressed upon me the need to be available for those who either have not had the chance to study their Bibles or, perhaps, who have not had the desire to have an ongoing Bible Study. There are people like that around. Even Christians. They know about what others have said about God. They know what their relatives may have prayed to God. And they may know a little bit about what the preacher did or did not preach about God in their hearing. Some remain confused or in awe of the many truths found in Scripture and have decided it would be better to not try to wade through the Bible.
So even though this Bible study is for that particular audience right now, please stay and hear me. You may be the one who will have a chance to relate this to somebody else even before this day is over. They have to know that it is o.k. to begin at the beginning. Just like a baby who is taking small steps, so you learn what God plans for your life "precept upon precept, line upon line, precept upon precept. . . ." (look up the Biblical text as a part of this study). View the verses for yourself.
We must never forget to also teach and preach that Christians will have an earnest desire and a fierce hunger for God's Word the Bible when they ask God for it. God will put that desire in your heart. And He will send somebody to help you to understand the Bible just like He sent Philip to minister to the Ethiopian Eunoch in the desert (Search for the Biblical text and read it).
For now, let us start with the basic introduction of Christian faith, the Bible. Search your Bible and answer the following questions, below:
How many Testaments are there in the Bible? What are they called? How many books are there in the protestant Bible?
Do you know the names of the books of the protestant Bible?
What are the main divisions of the books in the first Testament you cited at the outset of this lesson?
What are the main divisions of the books in the next Testament you cited at the outset of this lesson?
Did you list any other Testament books at the outset of this lesson? If so, what are they called? If not? why not?
Here is a Bible quiz that I found ONline. The author remains anonymous. But can you find some of the names of the Books of the Bible written in the following dialogue?
I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu kept people looking so hard for facts and for others it was a revelation. Some were in a jam especially since the names were not capitalized but the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers to others it was a real job we want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you yes there will be some really easy ones to spot others may require judges to help them I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them and there will be a loud lamentations when it is found a little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can concentrate better see how well you can compete relax now for there are really sixteen names of books of the Bible in this story. --Anon.

And now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us. To Him be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus world without end. Amen. God bless you and go in peace.
