Intercranial Pressure

A simple way to reduce the excess floating around in this over-crowded head of mine...

Something else I'm gonna try to do...

...with this blog is review and/or rec other people's SG-1 fics and videos.  Don't expect 'em to come often, nor do I intend to use a 'rating' system.  (I'm probably not gonna review something that sucks, know what I mean?)

My first rec is JayEm's marvelous, wonderful vid 'Missing'.  Helped out by the gorgeous song of the same name by Evanescence, JayEm describes the vid as 'sometimes it seems no one misses Daniel'.  I didn't agree at first, but after viewing the clip, it certainly DOES seem that way.  Helped out by clips from season 8's 'Reckoning' (parts 1 & 2), JayEm's arrangement and the heart-breaking voice of Amy Lee paint a picture of sacrifice and the disturbing lack of acknowledgement of such.

Highs: The music, as I'm sure I've mentioned, is simply wonderful.  (Apparently, JayEm likes Evanescence as well as I do.)  The orchestrations are done very well, with the added poignant bonus of having faded in on Jack asking Sam, "...And by the way, where's Daniel?"

Lows: The resolution isn't the greatest, though the sound is good quality.  Also, the clips aren't quite in chronological order, going from "Meridian" to "Abyss", back to "Revelations", jumping ahead to "Fallen" and falling back to "Meridian", before skipping on to "Evolution" and "Reckoning".

Final analysis: Let's just say I've played this vid over two dozen times.  From the other side of the room, I don't even notice the low quality video.  Still, if JayEm wants to re-release the vid in a high-res format (complete with season eight DVD clips instead of the Sky One versions) I won't complain one bit.
