bulletWilliam Ernest RIDING was born on 26 Aug 1910 in Utah, St. George, Washington County. He was baptized into the LDS church on 24 Jun 1919. He was endowed on 25 Jun 1930. He died on 10 Dec 1975 in Utah, Murray, Salt Lake County. He was buried on 13 Dec 1975 in Utah, Murray, Salt Lake County. He was a Superintendant of Murray City Power Company. Newspaper article written shortly after William Riding's death reads:

Ex-City Chief is Dead - Thursday, Dec. 11, 1975

MURRAY - Services are pending here for William E. Riding, 65 year-old Murray City Power Department superintendant, who was found dead at his home here yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

The cause of death was being determined by the State Medical Examiner.

Mr. Riding, who was to retire the end of this month, had served as superintendant of the city's power department from Jan. 1, 1960 until last summer, when he began serving in an advisory capacity. He has been an advisor to Jon Young, who was named to succeed him last month.

Last January Mr. Riding was cited by the Murray Chamber of Commerce as one of two recipients of its awards for service to the community.

Currently under construction by the city at 900 W. Bullion St. is an electricla power substation which the City Commission has chosen to name in his honor.

A native of St. George, born Aug. 26, 1910, he was married to the former Veva Hamblin. They resided at 228 Pan American.

Survivors, in addition to his wife include two sons, Kenneth of St. George and Anthony of Grace, Idaho, and a daughter, Margaret Ann Tippits of Tooele.

A member of the Murray Eagles Lodge and the Chamber of Commerce, he previously served for 10 years as general manager of the Bridger Valley Electrical Assn. in Wyoming and was an electrical engineer at the Utah General Army Depot in Ogden. Parents: John RIDING and Elizabeth NELSON.

He was married to Veva HAMBLIN on 31 Dec 1929 in Utah, Parowan, Iron County. He was sealed to spouse on 25 Jun 1939 in the St. George, Utah LDS temple. Children were: Anthony Hamblin RIDING, Margaret Ann RIDING , Kenneth Lee RIDING.
