Here in land scarce Singapore, SMSA doesn't have a permanent race track with which to call their own. Their only solution is to hold racing events on closed-off car parks(that's parking lots to you Americans!) I had the privilege to be a marshal at these events and was able to get very close to the drivers, and their mean machines.

Three types of racing are done here. First, is the straight line sprint, basically a drag race between two cars. The entire length of the sprint is approximately 400 metres, with braking room to spare. This is one l-o-n-g car park! Next is the Super Sprint event. Two cars line up side by side as in the sprint, but they'll be negotiating a figure eight course, for two laps. The fastest driver advances in a knock-out fashion. The last event is run like a regular rally. The cars each run a marked out course individually, and the total times at the end of all the stages, the times are tallied, and the victor announced. Most of the cars running these events are regular(albeit high-performance) sedan cars that are road registered! Favourites include the Subaru Impreza WRX, Honda Civic, and the Suzuki Swift GTi.

Here's a list and pictures of teams that are prominent in the racing scene here.
