The day had passed and before we knew it, it was night. Most of the people who were at the party had left after the barbecue and Josh made a fire in the backyard with those who were staying had spread blankets around nearby. It was a cool evening so Suzy and I went in to Josh�s room to change our bikinis for a pair of pants and a hoodie. I put my hair up in a bund and headed outside. I shivered at the contact of the wind on my face. It was my first night off in a month and Barry was nice to have given Suzy the same night off. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. It had been long time since I had had an amazing day like that. I never saw the time pass.
I walked to the place where Josh made the fire. Jamie and Joey were sitting on a blanket, kissing, like they had done all day. Josh was whispering sweet things in the ear of his red haired lady and two other couples were talking together. I turned to the other side and saw Hayden speaking on his phone. He noticed me and smiled as he patted the place next to him on the blanket. I bit my lower lip as a smile of shyness born on my lips. I sat next to him and watched him from the corner of my eye.
He was wearing a grey hoodie, hood on his head and a pair of black baggy jogging pants. His left arm was resting on his knee as his cell phone was in the other. The flames of the fire were dancing in the night and it made his face seem tanner than usual and he looked more like man. His square jaw was more defined by the contrast of the light from the fire and the darkness of the night. His blue eyes were lighter than usual too and his lips�God�How could a guy have such plump and �seem-so-delicious� lips? Just the memory of his mouth�I�m melting. He looked in my direction and smiled.
�Hey bro, Can I call you back?� He asked in the phone.
I saw him wait for the answer and I saw a smile spread his lips slowly before he burst out laughing.
�Yeah Yeah, that�s it, you�re right. It�s taking all my attention.� He winked at me and hung up soon after. �So you�re not mad at me,� He turned to me and teased.
I playfully punched his arm as I remembered what had happened earlier. We had passed the entire afternoon together, laughing and talking about everything and nothing, playing in the pool.
I raise my head and look at M. Richards who is listening me very closely: "It was that day that I noticed and admitted to myself that I had something for him.�
I knew it when we were in the pool after he had jumped in with me on his shoulder. After we had hugged, he kept me in his arms. I had away to be face to face with him and it was at that moment that I felt my heart melt. He was laughing, seeming to be proud of himself. His arms were wrapped tightly around my waist. His blue eyes were looking into mine and I was sure that he was able to read my feelings for him. Then someone had pushed me and we had fallen back into the water. My forehead hit his and our glance locked under the water. We were holding our breath and looking at each other intensely. I had felt his hand caress my cheek as his fingers made their way to the back of my neck. At that moment, I knew I had something for him and it was more than just 'something'...I was falling hard for him.
�I don�t know if it was his eyes or his gorgeous boyish smile or this great, amazing and charming personality of his, but he definitely had something that made me go crazy.� I wipe a tear that�s running on my cheek.
�Did you guys kiss Michelle?� M. Richards� voice asked me.
I look at him and shake my head.
�I�ll be back.� His voice brought me back to reality. I nodded and watched him walked to Joey.
I didn�t notice Jamie walking toward me. She sat next to me and looked in the direction I was looking.
�Nice butt huh!� She let out.
I jumped and turned to look at her: You scared the shit out of me.� I put my hand on my heart.
She giggled at my reaction. �I was only talking about his butt you know. Nothing to scare you.� I looked at her seriously and turned my head back. �What!� She claimed. �It�s only a butt. Everybody has one and I know you were looking at his.�
�I wasn�t looking at his butt. I wasn�t even looking at him.� I defended myself.
�Oh! What a bad lie M. I saw you; you were looking at him as if he was your prey. I know that he wouldn�t be against the idea but the fact is that I saw you looking at him.� She smiled, proudly.
�What do you mean by 'he wouldn�t be against the idea?'� I asked confused.
�Well, I have known him for a while now and I can tell when he�s interested in someone.� She grinned back at me.
�Did you drink something too strong for you? Come on Jamie, Hayden can have everything and everyone he wants so please stop your bullshit.� I said.
�Hayden isn�t like that you know. He�s not the cocky guy that everybody thinks he is. I mean he�s more like the shy guy next door than the cocky star of Hollywood. Open your eyes M. He likes you. It�s obvious.�
�He doesn�t know me.� I replied back.
�I didn�t say he was in love with you. I said he LIKES you. He thinks that you are funny and a very nice girl. Get to know him better sweetie. It's worth it -trust me.� She noticed that he was coming back so she leaned to whisper in my ear: �On top of that, His ass is round and firm. I tapped it.�
I shook my head back violently and gave her an angry glance. She giggled and returned to her place. I was trying to catch my breath as Hayden sat next to me.
�Are you ok?� He asked concerned.
�Yeah, don�t worry.� I said with a raspy voice.
We both chuckled at the sound of my voice. Then I saw him rubbed the back of his neck, nervously.
�Something wrong?� I asked as I put my hand on his arm.
�No everything�s good. It�s just��He stopped and looked at me quickly before he returned his glance on the ground. I saw him take a deep breath: �It�s just that Joey asked me if I wanted to go to the fireworks display in 2 weeks and I agreed but I know that he and Jamie will be playing tonsil hockey all night, so I was thinking that maybe I should invite you.� Then he looked in my eyes.
I could see the shyness in his eyes. He looked like a little boy who was asking for permission. In two weeks�it was the big festival in town. I knew it would be a big weekend and Barry had been clear on that: All the girls were working that night. Maybe I could ask him to begin my shift later�
�Sounds fun to me. And I will rescue you in a sense.� I smiled.
I saw his lips spread in that smile of his.

I chuckle and I can feel all the people look at me, confused. �It was my first bad move of all that I did in this whole story. I should have said no but, I couldn�t resist. On the one hand, it was worth it. He was worth everything I made and more....because now I know what it feels like to lose someone you love because of a lie. Its kind a weird to say that, I know, but he deserves better. Next time, there will be no lies�only the truth.�
�You know that it�s not gonna bring him back to you Michelle.� M. Richards tells me.
�I know Sir. But believe me if I say that I�ll give anything to have another chance.�
