| THE ART OF HITTING? DISTANCE FROM PLATE - Stand to where the inside foot is just behind the tee. - Make sure the tee is the same level as the batter's bellybutton. - Feet should be shoulder width, slightly toed-in. - Bottom hand knuckles should be lined up with top hand middle knuckles. - Rest, Ready, Relax 3 STEPS TO HITTING - Coil (Hands go back and up causing front shoulder to go down.) - Stride - Pivot (Pivot hips so bellybutton and back toe point to pitcher.) |
| THE ART OF THROWING? - Thumb under the ball and fingers between the "horseshoe" (seams). - Throw from the "L" position and follow through to the other side. POEM: Palm down, facing the ground, Halfway around, Feed the apple to the giant. FLAMINGO POSITION: - Stand sideways with feet together. - Lift left knee up (for right handers) like a flamingo. - Balance (don't hop). - Stop when arm is in "L" position. - Put leg down and this becomes the "scarecrow" position. - Point arm toward coach for throwing sight. - Throw ball and follow through to the other side. |
