Tintype photos
Tintype photos from the collection of Abraham Grant Clayton and Margaret May Pfaff

1839 - photographs became available to the general public at photographic establishments.
1853 - tintype photos were introduced and became instantly popular. Some photographers continued to use this process until the 1950's.
1880's - tintype photos were superseded by a new process that would be printed on paper.
