MARGE'S BLOG ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tuesday September 15, 2009 Marge died at 10:55 tonight. She was surrounded by family and friends most of the day, and was peaceful and without pain at the end. A Hospice nurse was in attendance. Sunday and Monday, September 13 and 14, 2009 Marge and I had "sleepovers" these two nights, due to R.T. having to work third shift. She slept through the whole night both nights. Thursday September 10, 2009 Marge did not have a good day today. She was unable to concentrate enough to even complete a game of Uno, which she really likes to play. She had been taking Flax Hull Lignans, and apparently there is gluten in it that is causing a bad reaction for her. She has quit taking it, but it will probably take a while to get out of her system. Thursday September 3, 2009 Marge is still doing well, although not quite up to the level of last week. Tuesday September 1, 2009 Elaine reports that Marge had a very good day today. Yay! Thursday August 27, 2009 Marge is like her old self today. Very alert, witty, eating well, enjoying things. It's so good to see. Monday August 24, 2007 The 100 pound magnet arrived! It came from Dan Kaur Weamer and goes under Marge's bed. Today she also started taking "Brain" pills - information here - and a couple of other nutritional supplements sent by Dan Kaur as well (see Dan Kaur's contact information on Marge's "Resources" page). Thursday August 20, 2009 Another bad day. Wednesday August 19, 2009 Hospice had their meeting and apparently the result, basically, is that the current level of care is what is going to be maintained. Tuesday August 18, 2009 The Hospice R.N., Denise, visited today and, among other things, applied a patch to some bedsores that Marge has developed recently on her backside. Denise will also bring elbow pads next time to help prevent sores there. She said that the swelling in Marge's legs and ankles is probably at least partly due to inactivity and decrease in circulation. There is to be a meeting on Wednesday among Hospice personnel to discuss Marge's case and further methods of treatment appropriate to her changing condition. Friday August 14, 2009 Marge couldn't get out of bed today. Condition pretty much the same as yesterday. Thursday August 13, 2009 Marge is having problems with drifting into periods of sleep often during the day. It makes it difficult for her to concentrate. This may be at least partially due to the low oxygen level, although she has not yet had this tested again. She is also having more pain in her back, and more generalized pain, and greater difficulty getting up for the first time each day. Swelling in feet and legs is still bad. Wednesday August 12, 2009 Marge switched days and had her appointment with Peggy Older today this week. Thursday August 6, 2009 Today was a swim day for Marge. Wednesday August 5, 2009 Appointment with Dr. Fulbright (Heartland Hospice). Marge's blood oxygen level is low (about 83%) and the doctor said it should be at least 91%. She was instructed to use her oxygen machine as often as possible. Also, a portable x-ray machine is to be brought to her house soon to help assess her condition. Monday August 3, 2009 Acupuncture today. Marge is having quite a lot of swelling in her ankles and legs with no apparent explanation. Thursday July 30, 2009 Marge has been advised to reduce her Cantron dosage to once every 4 hours during the day. She had previously been taking it every 2 hours. Monday July 27, 2009 Acupuncture. Marge has noticed redness at her fingertips, all around the nail. Thursday July 23, 2009 Marge has been going swimming at Gregg/Klice Community Center about once a week, with the help of Beverly Hof-Miller. She says the time she is in the water is the only time when she is truly pain free. Monday July 20, 2009 Acupuncture with Peggy Older. Thursday July 16, 2009 Marge is using Yellow Salve to start the healing process and close the Black Salve site temporarily. She will probably begin Black Salve treatment again in September. Monday July 13, 2009 Acupuncture. Thursday July 9, 2009 Marge is taking reservatrol now, along with her other nutritional supplements. See information about reservatrol here. Monday July 6, 2009 Acupuncture today. The new acupuncturist's name is Peggy Older. More information here. Thursday July 2, 2009 Marge is up to 3 Hydrazine Sulfate tablets now. She will continue at that dosage for 45 days. Monday June 29, 2009 Acupuncture. Marge is seeing a different acupuncturist (but in the same group). Appointments will now be on Mondays. Wednesday June 24, 2009 Marge started taking Hydrazine Sulfate. She starts with one tablet per day, and will work up to 3 per day. See info here. Thursday June 18, 2009 Time between Cantron doses has been extended to 4 hours. This is supposed to help with the GH-3 problem. Wednesday June 17, 2009 Acupuncture today. Thursday June 11, 2009 Marge has been having some trouble keeping the GH-3 down in the mornings. We're hoping that eating as soon as possible (1 hour) after taking it will help. Wednesday June 10, 2009 Acupuncture. Appointments have been changed to Wednesdays now. Friday June 5, 2009 A large amount of liquid has again been lysed from the Black Salve treatment site. Check out the latest progress pictures at the link above. Thursday June 4, 2009 Acupuncture. A new shipment of Cantron and GH-3 arrived this week. The Cantron instructions indicate that the treatment period should be anywhere from 6 months to 1 year, and that it is best to continue it for about 1 year afterwards. Thursday May 29, 2009 Acupuncture. Tuesday May 20, 2009 Marge had her acupuncture today, because she will be at Gaea on Thursday. Thursday May 15, 2009 Acupuncture. Friday May 8, 2009 One month of Cantron treatment completed. Two to go. Thursday May 7, 2009 No acupuncture today - the acupuncturist has pneumonia. Thursday April 30, 2009 Acupuncture. Thursday April 23, 2009 Another acupuncture treatment. Thursday April 16, 2009 Marge used her walker for the first time, and found it easier than she had anticipated. It has better balance and support than the cane. She had acupuncture again today. Thursday April 9, 2009 Marge had an appointment with Chris Powell for acupuncture today. Wednesday April 8, 2009 First day of Cantron treatment. Read about Cantron here. Marge is taking the G-H3 liquid, and the Cantron in pill form. Thursday April 2, 2009 Marge had acupuncture today. Saturday March 28, 2009 MARGE-MADNESS!! Despite dire weather reports, the party/fund-raiser went on as planned. The elements turned out a little kinder than predicted, and there was a really good turnout. Great food, drumming, dancing and conversation! Go HERE for a few pictures. More will be posted soon. Tuesday March 24, 2009 Marge tried to go out with a friend today, but her pain was so bad they had to turn around and come right back. Monday March 23, 2009 The Hospice nurse came today and is trying to better identify Marge's pain. They might try a muscle relaxer in conjunction with the Oxycodone. Sunday March 22, 2009 Marge had a Quantam Life treatment today. Saturday March 21, 2009 Breakthrough!! (More pictures at previous stages will be added as soon as possible.) Friday March 20, 2009 Marge went to the Hospice doctor, Dr. Fulbright, who confirmed the diagnosis of cancer. Thursday March 19, 2009 They tried a patch for pain on Marge, but it caused a lot of itching, and projectile vomiting. Tuesday March 17, 2009 Happy St. Patrick's Day! R.T. loaded Marge up in her wheel chair and they went up the block to see some of the parade. Sunday March 15, 2009 Marge saw Dr. Dutton today, and also had a colonic. Saturday March 14, 2009 Hospice brought a hospital bed yesterday afternoon, and Marge had the best sleep last night that she's had in months. Friday March 13, 2009 People from Hospice came for the first time today. They are very caring and helpful. We're starting a Wish List for Marge today. Go here.
