Leopard Plate |
THE SHAPE OF THINGS Growing up we always ate out of the same plate/bowl combination Most of mom’s cooking was one dish creations We’d grab up a plate out of the sink Jokingly say, "Does ice cream go with sausage links?" This flat plate with sides is not that common I had to make them cause I sure couldn’t find them Told this story to some dinner guests As I served out of the handmade plates that Christmas One girl thought the shape was to pile it high Up to the sky The purpose of the shape was more for variety Fried roadkill, squirrel, rabbit with potatoes, or spaghetti Another guest asked if all the plates were spotted like these? The irony is that mom never allowed me to wash the dishes though I was anxious to please Ignorance was bliss----I hadn’t a clue? How many times growing up was it really the flu? Whether you wash these bowls (or not) it’s up to you.
