| Welcome to what I call the Dungeon. What it really is however, is more of a catalog of items that I make. As you go through these pages you'll see a variety of ceramics as well as a few "other" surprises. I hope you enjoy your trip, and come back often. And don't forget if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I've changed things around a little hoping to make your visit more enjoyable. Since there seemed to be some confusion about terms, I've moved the FAQ to this page. Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is Bisque? Bisque is that state of ceramics when a piece has been fired one time in a kiln. In coloration the piece will be white. This is different from the color of a piece of greenware, which usually has gray/greenish tinge to it. Bisque is also harder to break than greenware is, as greenware is still the wet unfired clay piece, and it is possible to break a greenware piece by squeezing slightly when holding it. As Bisque has been fired, it will not break if squeezed slightly. After a piece has reached this stage (Bisque) it is ready to be transformed into a piece of art by painting. 2. What is a Finished Piece? A Finished Piece is a piece of Bisque that has been painted and sealed. And where necessary or wanted electrical items, such as lights, etc., have been added. 3. What type of paint is used? There are actually several types of paint that can be used to paint on Bisque. The type I recommend however is Acrylic. Acrylic paint comes in a wide assortment of colors, are fairly inexpensive, and clean up easily with warm water. 4. Do I have to fire the item? No! If you use an acrylic paint - You Do Not Fire. The piece has already been fired once. That was to take if from the greenware (wet) stage, to the Bisque (dry & paintable) stage. The ONLY time an additional firing is needed is when you use glaze paints. Glaze painting/additional firing is necessary if the piece is going to be used in the kitchen or bathroom, or outside. Basically if it's going to be around water and/or food, that then is the time to glaze your piece. If you decide to glaze a piece you will have to locate a nearby ceramic shop that will both sell you the glaze and do the additional firing. I can not and will not accept a piece back for the additional firing. 5. ALL shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail and includes a tracking number, unless otherwise noted. Insurance is optional, but HIGHLY recommended. If you plan on ordering several pieces please EMAIL ME BEFORE ordering and I will adjust the shipping cost. 6. PA Sales Tax (6%) will be added to orders. 7. All sales are on a First Ordered, First Sold basis. 8. If you are a Teacher or an Author EMAIL me BEFORE ordering for a surprise. MORE COMING SOON! |
