| Emil Lang was always a brilliant man and extremely successful scientist, however his life was completely changed when the "Visitor' first arrived on Earth in 1999. Emil was choosen from among all of the world's premiere scientists to go on the first investigation of the crashed vessel, it was during this that the various factions of the World that had been fighting for nearly a decade previously, realised there was something even more dangerous out there. 50 foot aliens with technology far beyond anything humans could imagine. During this expedition while Lang was investigating a strange console that he recieved the protoculture shock that gave him special insights into the new technology and resulted in him being recruited into Robotech Defense Force. With intensive work Lang and the Robotech Team created among other things, the Destroids and Veritechs that would allow the humans to be so successful during the war against the Zentraedi. When the Spacefold Drives disappeared during the misfold to Pluto it was Dr. Lang who realised the SDF-1 would only be able to fire its Main Gun if it underwent a modular transformation. Of course, this transformation caused a lot of problems inside the SDF-1, particularly for the hapless citizens of Macross. Dr. Lang is next seen when the Zentraedi send an ambassdor Exedore to the SDF-1 to negoate a truce, Lang is extremely interested in learning more about Zentraedi culture after the interesting discoveries made regarding the DNA of the micronised defectors. Lang and Exedore spend much of the Reconstruction era after the fight with Dolza's Fleet investigating all these similarities and the secrets of the Zentraedi's origins. Although, this investigation never seems to reach a satisifactory conclusion, the Scientists deciding that the Robotech Masters (who created the Zentraedi in the first place and were probably the template) are not related to humans, despite the near identical genetic material of the two beings. Lang is last seen continuing his studies and probably assisting in the construction of the SDF-2 and the reconstruction of the SDF-1 for future missions. |
