Tokar Whiteman was educated in Europe, Canada, Asia, and the United States.
She began her formal art education in California, continued in Germany, and
received a B.A. and an M.F.A. from the University of New Orleans. She has
experience instructing fine arts on multiple levels of primary and secondary
schools, colleges, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Her repertoire includes
teaching Fine Art at the University of New Orleans Metro College, Art Education
at Loyola University, and various Gifted/Talented programs throughout Louisiana
and Colorado. She creates the curriculum for the St. Charles Parish Gifted/Talented
Art Program, and is a state evaluator for Talented in The Visual Arts. Paulette
Tokar Whiteman's paintings are exhibited internationally, and are used in
productions by the motion picture and television industry. The corporate collections
of The City of New Orleans, Pan American Life Insurance Company, Hotel Intercontinental,
Energy Center (Lincoln Properties), First City Bank of New Orleans, Barham
and Churchill, Lykes Shipping Lines, McGlinchey, Stafford, Mintz & Cellini,
Coopers & Lybrand, Westminster Corporation, First National Bank of Jefferson,
Jones Walker, Metairie Centre, Freeport McMoRan, Saratoga Building, 700 South
Peters Corporation, 1 River Place, Sheraton Hotel, the Acacia Group, and many
others include her work.
She is the recepient of the Louisiana Division Of The Arts Artist Fellowship
Grant 1999-2000.
