-Stifling Ambition-

Somebody once told me,
"This world is not enough.
I've got too many ambitions,
I'm too big for all this 'stuff.'

"I want it all.
I want everything.
But this place is so small,
It's so stifling.

"I wanna try so hard,
I wanna try my best.
But with all these elbows jostling me,
I get lost amongst the rest.

"I try to look up.
I try to climb so high.
I try so hard to succeed,
That I have to ask, 'Why?'

"Why must I fail?
I've tried so hard.
But ev'ry turn I make,
Someone else has the trump card.

"One day I'll win.
I will have it all.
I'll just have to give my best.
I will not fall."

At that I smiled,
My simple reply:
"If you don't give up,
Then neither will I."
