Some important dates in Claude's life
1939
Claude was born in Egypt on the 1st of February 1939 at about 6 am.
His father is Aim� Fran�ois, and his mother is Lucia Mazzei (known as  Chouffa).
Claude has a sister called Marie-Jos� (known as Josette).
They live a very good lifestyle, and Claude has quite a happy childhood.
1955
General Nasser presents Claude with a medal, after he won a 100 metres race
1956
The Suez Canal is nationalized, and the Fran�ois family have only one month to leave the country.
1959
Claude plays the drums in a jazz band, he is enployed by Juan-les-Pins.
1960
Claude marries Janet Woollacott a ballet dancer in Monte Carlo on 5/11/1960.
Claude's father finds work for him in a bank, but Claude decides to become a musician.
1961
Claude's father died.
Claude moves to Paris, and records his first song for Fontana records, it is called
Nabout Twist and is recorded under the name K�k�.
1962
Claude has his first recording success with the song
Belles, belles, belles.
Later in the year he performs at Olympia with Dalida.
1963
Claude appears on television for the first time on 21st January.
He performs at Olympia and the actress Marl�ne Dietrich goes backstage to congratulate him on his performance.
In November, Claude buys an apartment at 46 Boulevard Exelmans in Paris.
Claude goes on his first tour.
1964
In February Claude goes to the home of a young fan called Lisette who has leukaemia, Claude and some of his band perform for her.
In the spring Claude buys the mill at Dannemois, it is his "haven of peace"
1965

Appears on television in the Autumn in 'Cendrillon' (Cinderella)

1966
Claude performs at Olympia once again,
this time accompanied by 4 dancers.
THE CLODETTES
1967
Claude is divorced after 3 years separation from Janet.
Meets Isabelle Forest.
Has a big hit with 'Mais quand le matin'
Creates the record company 'Fleche'
and records 'Comme d'habitude'
1968
Birth of Claude and Isabelles first son Claude on the
8th July at 1.10pm.
Claude tours black africa.
1969
Claude goes on tour in Italy.
Claude and Isabelle celebrate the birth of their second son
Marc
on the 15th November 6.30pm
Creates the magazine 'Podium'
Buys 122 Bld Exelmans in Paris.
1970
In May, Claude is involved in a serious car accident when a tire bursts, he breaks his nose in 18 places.
He also collapses during a concert.
1971
Has a massive hit with the song
'le lundi au soleil'
1972
24th of May,
and Claude co-presents the television show "avec le coeur"
with his friend Michel Drucker.
1973
On his tour in Marseille, Claude is accidentally hit in the face by a fan, he has to have several stiches.
'Chanson Populaire' is released, it is another massive hit for Claude.
Creation of the music companies
'Jeune Musique' and 'Isabelle Musique'
Also the creation of a modelling agency.
Claude is accused of tax evasion.
A molotof cocktail is thrown into Bld. Exelmans.
Claude's beloved home 'Le Moulin' is devastated by a fire.
1974
The records 'Le mal aime' and 'Le telephone pleure' are released.
Claude is found guilty of tax evasion.
Creation of 'Absolute' newspaper.
1975
Claude is staying at the Hilton Hotel in London, when it is bombed by the IRA,
he suffers burst eardrums.
A helicopter Claude had just left crashes on take off right before his eyes.
Claude is invited to spend Christmas with Val�ry Giscard d'Estaing the French President.
1976
A new girlfriend for Claude Kathalyn Jones.
Tour of Antilles.
Claude presents La Bande � Cloclo.
Official launch of his perfume 'Eau Noire'.
Brief appearance in the film'Dr�le de Z�bre'
He sells the newspaper 'Absolute'
Records an album especially for children called
'Pour les jeunes de 8 � 88 ans'
Release of 'Le vagabond'
1977
On June 25th, Claude is shot at while travelling to Dannemois in his car.
1978
January, and Claude has his first and sadly his last concert in the United Kingdom at The Royal Albert Hall.
it was a big success.
March, and he records the programme 'Snowtime Special' for the BBC.
March 11th, Claude dies  electrocuted in his bathroom at Boulevard Exelmans.
March 15th Claude's funeral takes place at Auteuil church, he is later buried at Dannemois cemetery.
