Once Burned

She found the perfect man or so she thought
After eight months of talking came to naught.
Finally deciding to meet made her scared
Even from a man she thought truly cared.
Then she learned how little about him she really knew
When he left her standing there without a clue.
Such a distraught and depressed state she was in
Saying to herself she’d never fall like that again.
She shut out the world and behind her wall she sat
Vowing she’d never love another man again like that.
Yet she knew if he ever came around
He could easily send her wall crashing to the ground.
The hurt and pain she’s feeling she would leave
By a man’s love of her if she’d believe.
Being able to trust another is the hardest part
All because of the man who played games with her heart.
