In your own way you taught me about life
building a fire, pitching a tent, using a knife.
I learned how to tell right from wrong
seeing your example as the years went along.
The value of helping those in need
even if their lifestyle wasn't one in which you agreed.
The importance you felt with work
as a duty that you would never shirk.
I've picked up and try to follow your shoes
because your good advice would be foolish of me to refuse.
Not really sharing how I've felt before
has been a part of me that I abhor.
So I put my feelings in these words here
to let you finally understand how I feel loud and clear.
I love you Dad,
