Mental Health

The unloved or forgotten in the padded cell
She opens her heart to help them get well.
Night after night her grueling job
Might send her home to cry or to sob.
Or after a pleasant hope-filled day
She knows the reason that she must stay.
To help those in need with any concern
She selflessly grants them all a turn.
Speaking their problems, voicing their fears
She listens and reflects on what she hears.
Compassion has always been her driving force
To guide them to a steadier course.
As time goes by she see the effect
Of previous years of pain and neglect.
Never more will her patients feel alone
While she has a car, feet or even a phone.
