| PIACENTINE |
| Location: Piacenza (and most central and northern areas) No.of cards: 40 Also the Piacentine cards are a well-known pattern, and they are probably used in an even wider area than the Napoletane. Their size is quite longer and thinner than any other central-southern pattern, almost suggesting a connection with northern ones. Born in the city of Piacenza, these cards are likely to have spread to the central regions of Italy during the 1800's, when the papal territories stretched to the north, reaching the afore-said city. Probably their final look dates back to those years. |
