  • Finitys End by C.J. Cherryh

Tolkien was a scholar of Anglo-Saxon culture, and of languages. He has translated texts from Old English (Notably Sir Gawain and the Green Knight). Truly an intellectual, Tolkien brings the world and people of Middle Earth to life. LoTR shook Fantasy/Science Fiction to its very roots, making it the Genre it is today. If you have not read this, then I insist you do!!
  • The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Escape to the Wind by Jennifer DiMarco
It has been a LONG time since I have read a new book that was this fulfilling. Tyger's tale was fascinating, and I hungrily await the moment the second (and third!) books in the Windriders Trilogy reach my eager paws. Yum! [3.14.2K3]
  • Turning Point by Lisanne Norman
  • The Dragon Masters
  • The Great Divorce by C. S. Lewis
  • The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis
  • The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
  • Out of the Silent Planet by C. S. Lewis
  • Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard
A great work of Science Fiction - plenty of science, plenty of fiction! Yipee! It was predictable in places, but probably due to the advancements made in science from when the book was written two decades ago, and re-use of Hubbard's ideas in novels by others. I found it a bit dry in places - I was bored - but it was very good otherwise. [9.9.2K2]
