A splitting headache caused me to go for a stroll away from home, and the stress-causing things that rule/ruin my day. Of course, it was overcast, and I was sure the sky was going to open up and dump on me.
What should I spy there on the treeline between the open plains and the woodlands, but a firey crimson male courting a shy silver and green female. They both bear stripes like the first Ferilon I ever lay eyes on - Terak.
The male was a striking creature, dominant, large, and bold. Along with his briliant coloring (which I'm sure Iliamina will be intrigued by, and wish this fine specimen had settled on/near her Ranch!) he has splendid yellow dragonfly wings. A mutation I have never seen before, though Ilia's Orski does have gossamer wings of his own. Orski and Ala'zada haven't had cubs yet (if they will or not, I'm skeptical. How does Ilia know they love each other?), but I wouldn't be surprised if the wings are a double-recessive sort of phenomenon - I haven't seen Orski fly, and this red stud doesn't seem to be interested in using those semi-transparent things of his. His mannerisms remind me of an Alpha wolf (that, or a Bronzerider).
The shy female, while being striped, is almost his exact opposite. She acts as though she's the Omega wolf (to continue with that analogy), and has been nothing but the scapegoat all her life - unable to comprehend that she would be worthy of any male's attention - let alone that of this red.
Nonetheless, he's courting her something fierce. He's sticking to the plains side, and she's hiding in the trees. With her coloring, it's almost impossible to see her in there. He isn't getting very far into the trees... I imagine it would hurt tremendously bad if a branch pierced one of those...
Then, the sun came out. A brilliant ray splashed down into the trees, illuminating the female's silvery fur. The light must have bolstered her self esteem, or something, because she ventured out, and accepted his courtship. It was beautiful.
I decided to call them Pha and Megha (for what should be obvious reasons). I'll have to keep an eye on them, and see what comes of this.
For the record, my headache was completely gone by the time I got home.
