Entrances can consist of door(s), sidelites and a variety of transom types to create just that right look. Classy Glass Design uses the finest solid mahogany wood for doors, jams and sashes. Other types of wood are available also. We can supply everything needed for your builder to install a complete entrance package or we can supply just the stained glass panels to fit into pre-existing openings.
In many cases, the materials used in your entrance determine its strength and durability over time. One can go to the hardware store today and purchase a stained glass door, window or entrance that is somewhat less expensive. Some of the wood is a laminate material vice solid core and of inferior wood that will tend not to stand up for the life of your home.
Stained Glass panels that are found in store bought units are produced by commercial firms who are primarily interested in the financial aspects of the industry. Because of their natural desire to produce a product that is "acceptable" vice "superior" various processes of manufacture, including design, become seperated. Some "hardware store" bought door systems for example use unreinforced panels which actually "flex" or vibrate excessively each time a door is opened or closed. Over time this weakens and stretches the leads (called "cames") that hold the glass in place leading to eventual fatigue and bowing.
