My Life Today

Paul.jpg (33k)

My home is in Walnut Creek. I married in 1989. We didn't decide to have kids which was good, because we had a surprise breakup in 1996. (Besides... me with kids? Talk about the inmates running the asylum...)

I work as a real estate broker in Walnut Creek, selling primarily in central county. Once in awhile come across the family homes of classmates, which brings up a lot of memories.

Hobbies include people watching, motorcycling, bicycling, foreign/unusual films, dinners with small groups of friends, lazing on the coast, and live jazz & blues. I think sushi belongs in the sea.

My mother lives nearby and I have a married older sister who's moving to Nevada soon. And I have one cat, "Daisy," who will make a real fine hat someday.

A Short History of the last 30 Years

I was only at Las Lomas for my freshman and sophomore years. My claim to fame there was drumming for jazz, concert and marching bands plus numerous visits to the counselor's office.

My academic career actually peaked in 7th grade when I was tossed from Mrs. Schindler's English class for "making frightening animal noises." So my weary parents sent me to private schools for my junior and senior high school years. During that time I had friends at Acalanes HS but my contact with Las Lomas was pretty much over at that point.

After graduation I went on the road for nearly ten years as a professional drummer. Most of that time was spent in club and show groups. The last two years I played, I worked in a recording group that didn't pan out. I also got to play at the UC Jazz Festival one summer with Ella Fitzgerald on the bill.

Oddly enough, I never used drugs or alcohol. Fellow musicians begged me not to overburden myself.

From there I went into copy machine sales for about 4 years, then into real estate in 1985. I've never been convicted of a crime but I have my whole life ahead of me.

Future Plans

I like my work, so my future plans are to continue, but at a lighter pace. Traveling interests me, especially road travel. And I'd really like to be in a long-term relationship again. Or I could end world hunger it's a tough choice.

What I've Learned the last 30 years

I've learned plenty about life over the last 30 years. Most recently I'm learning to get more out of life by being a LOT more careful who I spend my time with.

You get a *Gold Star* if you have any idea who the hell I am.
"To anyone who has moved away and would like a picture of their old family home, just let me know and I'll send you a digital photo or two."

I think Debbie Purcell Harris has done a heck of a job on this website. Please send her a note and thank her.

note from Deb:
Thanks Paul, for the kind words, helping find classmates and spotting corrections for me. I appreciate the help. I've had such fun doing this. Each time I see a new "FORM" come in I can't help smiling. When someone sends in their information or brings in another classmate it's like getting a little gift.
