My Life Today
I just changed jobs. Now I'm working part time, closer to home. My husband, Mike, and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in Hawaii last summer with our children. Our son, BJ is 19 & daughter, Cassie is 17. They were born in Sacramento, but started school in Colorado, continued in Wisconsin & are now in High School in Southern Orange County, California. We have lived here the longest, since 1994. I have been doing office work as a receptionist and administrative assistant for about 11 years. I recently quit a full-time job. My husband, Mike is travelling more these days. Both kids are driving, and I wanted to be closer to home, and have more time available. Our son, BJ will graduate from Catholic HS this year, and Cassie will graduate in 2002. We have a golden retriever, "Yoshi" and an orange tabby-cat, "Tigger." We also have five goldfish, named after the Back- street Boys! Also, one tiny tree frog leftover from a tadpole experiment.
A Short History of the last 30 Years
Mike and I were married in June 1975 after graduating from U.C. Davis. Mike has a BS in ChemEngr (and is a Professional Engineer in Control Systems). My BS is in Consumer Textiles. We moved to Chicago for Mike's first job at Universal Oil Products near Chicago. We did quite a lot of moving around to: Oklahoma, Louisiana, PORTUGAL, West Virginia and then we returned to Sacramento, where our children were born. We didn't stay there long, either. We moved to Denver in 1986 where I became a Big-time Bronco fan! (John Elway took them to the Super Bowl twice (and lost, while we lived there). We followed Mike's work to Wisconsin in 1991. We built a home there, but only lived in it for 2 years! We happily returned to California in 1994, where we have been for six years.
Future Plans
In the next few years, our children will be graduating HS, and going to college. At first, they both want to go to community college before they decide where to go. Mike is working on a big water treatment project for the government of Singapore, and we might be moving there in 3-4 years, while he completes the project. It will be a new adventure!
What I've Learned the last 30 years
We cannot change the world, but we can learn to change the way we see things. We are on earth to learn about life, and we must do our best to understand what God is trying to teach us, in every situation, whether it be seen as "good" or "bad." Everything has a purpose, even if we can't figure it out!
Message to My Classmates
I hope everyone will help to locate any one they might be in contact with, whether friend or family and pass the word about the Reunions! It will be so much fun!
My Favorite Quote
"When God closes a door, He opens a window."
Other Comments
As we are getting older, many of us are seeing our parents in a different light. They are becoming older and more fragile. My mother passed away from Alzheimer's two years ago. She declined for 6 yrs as the disease stole her memory and her ability to care for herself. Family was very important to her, but the cruel disease took away her recognition of her own children, grandchildren, and even her own husband, who cared for her every day! If there is one thing I would like to pass on, it is how we should treasure our parents while they are here! They can be taken from you in an instant, or have a long decline. Despite any mistakes we think our parents made, most of them did their best, and tried to love us the best way they knew how. My mother was a dear lady, and most of all, she loved her family. If your parents are still on earth, please call them and tell them how much you love them, and thank them for raising you!
