The summer after our Junior year I married and we moved to Minnesota. I graduated in a class of 274 students. I knew 4 of them by name and none as friends. We returned to Holyoke that following summer and have been here ever since.
After our first son was born I took several part time jobs so I could have free time with him. In 1992 I attended NJC in Sterling and received my education in Cosmotology. I took my state boards in August of 93 and worked 2 1/2 years as a stylist at Ardies Beauty Bar. I was offered a job with benefits and much more money with D&D Farms and worked as a Farrowing supervisor for 3 years. (Far cry from glamour and glitz!) The job was extremely demanding physically and emotionally. I worked long hours, weekends and holidays. I just missed out on so much with my kids. I once again chose a part time job. I currently work for the U.S. Postal Service.
Rick has worked in construction/maintenance our entire married life. He is working for the Colorado State Department of Corrections as a Maintenance Supr. He drives to Sterling to work each day.
We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary last summer by taking a cruise to the Caribean.
We have 3 children: Rick, Jr., will be 19 this month. He is in the Navy and is currently in Florida where he is studying to be an aviation electrician. Malissa is 13-She is in the 7th grade and a cheerleader (can you believe that!) Daniel will be 12 next month. He is in the 5th grade. He is all boy and keeps us in stitches.
All in all we are quite content with our lives and just enjoy still being together. |
