Classic Kart Shop is home to the JackShaftJones Vintage Kart Racing Team and we LOVE vintage karts. Our repro parts have come to be because of the need to keep our team, as well as others, running and restoring. Parts are made in small batches. We try to keep stock on the parts shown, however because this is a HOBBY and NOT A REAL BUSINESS, we run out of things from time to time, and it can take months to finish another batch. Most of our parts have been thoroughly race tested and refined if needed. All repro parts are made by us and NOT by GEM, REED, West Bend, etc. Because some of our stuff has found its way to eBay listed as �NOS GEM�, all molds have been changed over to the JSJ brand name, and anything on this site should be considered copies of original parts, no matter what name is on them
About Sand Casting:
All our aluminum parts are sand cast grade 319 �self hardening� aluminum. Pitting is inherent in sand casting. Castings with large pits or too many small pits are rejected. Our standard finish is �belted then tumbled� for a uniformly smooth �cast� looking finish and color.
About Steel Parts:
All our steel parts are precision laser cut to exacting spec�s. Material is generally mild steel , pickled in oil, and has a very smooth , clean surface. Most welding is by MIG, but TIG is used when necessary. Standard finish is either raw steel or a quick coat of semi-black as a rust inhibitor, easily removed for your finish. Steel mounts are available in �u-weld-em� kit form. Also available with your �offset� dimensions at extra cost. |
