| Johann Sebastian Bach |
| Bach is perhaps the most known of any baroque composers to live. Some might even say that Music owes as much to Bach as religion to its founder. Bach has composed many different forms of music for many different instruments, ranging from the organ to the violin to the harpsichord. Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach (which was located in what used to be East Germany) on March 21, 1685. Johann was the eighth and youngest son of Johann Ambrosius Bach. Music was in Johanns family history for many generations, so its not a surprise that this young boy had the talent of music and training at an early age. When Bachs mother died in 1694 (when this young child was only nine), and his father one year later, Johann was forced to live with his older brother. However, Bach was still able to continue his musical studies and futher his educational knowledge as well. When Bach was 17, he became the organist of the Neue Kirche in Arnstadt. He was paid well, and had access to a new organ, a fortunate privelage. Bach enjoyed this job very much. He also had the opportunity to compose many works of music, which was a great experience. Bach took up a job in Mlhausen during June of 1707. In October of 1707, Bach married his second cousin Maria Barbara Bach. In 1708 Bach moved to Weimar to work for Duke Wilhelm Ernst. Bach began to compose his 6 Brandenburg Concertos in 1721.In 1723, Bach was cantor of St. Thomas.... Leipzig. TO BE CONTINUED.. |
