These definitions pertain to notations on sheet music and how the music is supposed to be played
- Piano:
- to play softly.
- Pianissimo:
- to play very sofly.
- Ritard:
- to gradually play slower.
- Staccato:
- to play the notes shortened and separated.
- Trill:
- to rapidly alternate the principal note with a note 1/2 or 1 whole step higher.
