I guess I should start way back in 1959, dad had what I think was a '58 Duo-Glide, from the pics I saw when I was older it was a beauty. Hell for all I know I was conceived on that bike. Who say's you can't ride in a New Mexico snow storm, it could also explain this thing I have with Ladies and leather. Anywho we moved to So Cal early 60's and were the envy of the neighborhood. I mean how many kids got dropped off at school on a Panhead? Then one day dad did not show to pick me up, seem's his three time broken leg was no match for a temperamental VTwin. Well there were three kid's now and dad had to sell his baby(and my inheritance). I don't think dad ever got over it, so our riding turned to dirt bikes. Thru out the 60's-70's we never missed a chance to ride or race, be it at Saddle Back Park for motocross, Ascot park for tt and flat track or a District 37 desert race. Even had a 1967 Harley 250 sprint we rode mostly as a pit bike. Then the time came to get my license at 16 and my first street bike a Honda 305 scrambler. Cool bike but not a good substitute, I just could not afford a Harley, besides I discovered Muscle Cars. 1969 Road Runner to be precise, Follwed by another '69 RR, a '69 GTX, and a '68 Dodge Charger. In 1977 I bought my first new Honda, a 750 f2. road it for many years till I got board with it, and gave it to my brother. I have no idea whatever happened to that bike(never cared either). Okay fast Forward 1990 moved to New Yawk so's the wife could be with her family. Never gave up the want for a Harley Davidson and in 1994 went to Woodstock Harley Davidson in NY, and ordered a 1995 Flstc 6 month wait, ok give's me time to save up. Two week's later while partying at a Yonkers MC "Joe Cool" (POW/MIA) run the ole ticker(heart) decides to take a dump. Needless to say I did not get my 95. But now 6 years later I'm trying again. Have an 01 FLSTCI on order due Jan-March. Black of course! Check back later I'll update asap. |
