This Daily Prophet is actually about my days (a monthly
diary) at Hogwarts, however, I will try to keep you posted on current events
which impact the magickal community.
~*~ My Background and how I got to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. ~*~
My name is Ariel Elvenwolf. I am a first year student at Hogwarts . I come from Wales where my family lives. I did not want to go to Hogwarts, Even though my family is 'old magic', I am the first to go to any school of magic.
The Headmaster, Dumbledore, is a friend of my family and visits our
secluded home often.
He was very convincing about the benefits of my attending his school
when he was visiting last time, which is why I was considering it in the
first place. I have three wolves, 1 dog, 2 Barb horses, 3 milk goats,
some chickens, a few very adept cats and various other friends among the
non human contingent. They are why I did not want to attend any school
so far away from my home with rules about not apparating.
I was asked to attend Durmstrang and Beaux Batons but, even though
I was tempted by Beaux Batons,
I was not tempted enough to go there. Durmstrang was
tempting because it's so mysterious but, that was about all. I already
know enough curses to get me thrown out of most schools.
I can fly pretty well but, my parents won't allow me to get hurt and flying with a strong repelling spell is not allowed in Quiditch because of the bludgers bouncing off at all angles, so that's out. Dumbledore was very firm about my not bringing one of my wolves to school because, he said, there were just too many attractions for their predator instinct, even though this wolf is my familiar. He told me I was talented enough to get another, more acceptable familiar. I would have been flattered, however, I knew where he was going with this, so I went out and asked if one of my owl friends wanted to go with me and Maeve flew in right away, showing she approved of my going to Hogwarts too.
In the end both Dumbledore and I made some concessions. I feel he got the better part of the bargain, but he is older and more experienced. (That was his argument, that and the fact he turned me into a tree frog and I couldn't figure out how he did it so fast and without his wand.) I get to apparate from Hogsmeade if I really need to, however, I must get his permission first and do it in secret, also he or another professor must accompany me. He told me most students do not know how to apparate and most of the witches and wizards don't apparate. Also you need a license to apparate. GEESH! What am I getting myself into, a muggle community???

Day 1, I get my books: I've been in London before.
My family believes in being able to 'mix' with just about anyone, anywhere,
so I was quite at home. Diagon Alley was a BLAST! I've never been
there before. All those shoppes, I absolutely gorged at Florian's
place. I was not allowed, however, to get anything else that was
not on the school list. I already had my wand and familiar, so it
was just books, supplies and clothing. Bummer! I can't wait
to go back on my own, with LOTS of pocket money. I saw some
boys & girls there my age. Like Dumbledore said, "This will be
the experience of a lifetime!" I just don't know if I'll like it,
or not.
The trip through Gringotts was loads of fun, that's the first time
I had been there. Better than a carnival ride! I can't
bring my broom to school and I can't say here what I think about that because
I'm not allowed bad language in public. We did bring Maeve and left
her in our room at the inn with the rest of my stuff from home. It's
the first time she's been in a cage, you should hear her language!
After supper, I talked to Tom until my parents dragged me off to bed.
What a fascinating character Tom is, I could talk to him for hours.
(I guess I did.)
Day 2, I go to Hogwarts and get sorted out. (I'm transcribing my
notes now. Homework is heavy, so this is just in my spare time.)
