Ahh... Here is what we have been waiting for.......
Friday night, August 6, 2004...... The city is buzzing with the anticipation of old faces returning to the big "City of Nekoosa". Several changes have been made, but many things remain the same. The Mill looks a little different to those who have been away but the aroma hasn't changed a bit. A couple of bars have vanished but those that still remain are doing fine. The many-time remodeled building( we remember as Roger's, IGA, Segovia's and now the Liquid Lounge) has long been waiting for the magic to begin... Yes, our class members will be pouring in to start the first of the two day , 30th Reunion Festivities. Beer and booze are available as a cash bar but there is a special batch of BBQ's ready to munch on. Chit Chat is the name of the game and let's face it, there's a lot to catch up on. We toast to good health and hugs go round to those who could make the party. The magic is that we are now closer than we ever were. The reality of life has bumped into all of us and now after so many years, we are all back mostly the same again. We might not recognize each other right away but if you look into each other's eyes, we realize that nothing has really changed. There is that same person's best version that we remembered from way back in our school years, even though we might not be able to remember what we had for lunch earlier that day.
From 7:00 to close, we "Rule as Seniors Again"(that sounds bad but I guess it fits now) and remember only the good things that we all lived through. We also remember and miss those who did not make the journey through life as they had planned.
Sometime during the night, we will take care of any loose ends involved in the Golf outing. Some have suggested that maybe a green jacket like the Masters should be given out as prizes or even "Big Money" like they do in the PGA. We have something more valuable than a jacket or cash...... Braggin' Rights forever on our web page. Yes, the winning team will be remembered in all of their glory as the winners of the Best Ball Golf Outing of the Class of 1974. There will be a picture taken and placed in the new Hall Of Fame page on our site. We will need to keep a good photographic history of the event as though our memory isn't quite the same as it used to be, the barley and hops beverages tend to do some damage also.
The party will then conclude at bar time( Unless the idea comes about to continue somewhere else). There will be a few non-drinkers to help make sure everyone gets somewhere in a safe fashion.
Saturday, August 7, 2004.
The day is off with the Class of 1974 Golf outing sometime around 10 AM. Remember that you are playing for braging rights forever!!!! Having the most fun is the part that will life forever. At 6:00 we will start the meal at Homestead Country Club. There will be a few speeches and then the feast.
The feast, the feast, the feast of roast Beast... OOOPs, wrong story... The feast will be chicken and ham. Beans fixed just right and other food to enjoy. There will be free Beer and 2 punch bowls filled with Whiskey/Sour and another with Brandy/Sweet. There will also be sodas. The rest will be a cash bar.
If the feast wasn't enough, there is the trivia contest. 20 questions will be ready to tax your memories even more. $5.00 will be awarded to the first right answer to the questions. Soft music will be played in the background and the party will continue.
Now if you can make it through all of this jabbering, you surely can make it to the party. There may be a couple of our old teachers there and enough people to reminisce with to hopefully last another 5 years. We aren't getting any younger but I like to think we are all getting a little better.
Please try your best to make a party that will be remembered dearly in your memories for a long time...... Or as long as our memory keeps going!
