Previous Minutes            Minutes of the previous meeting held 10th September 2001 were read and accepted as a fair record. Acceptance moved J Nolan seconded G Tansley.

 

Matters Arising from Previous Minutes

                                    Trans Tasman competition.  No information available.

                                    Racing trophies.  John Nolan advised $201.00.

                                    Land acquisition. Referred to General Business.

 

Correspondence In

Letter received from Mrs Margaret Battam in respect to

State Championships at Narromine.

Reply noting the opinions expressed.

Letter received from Mr Len Surtees advising that the Tamworth Club had closed down.

Reply requesting information in respect to financial situation and disbursement of club funds, if any.

Postal vote 5/2001 – Control Line Rules

Response collated by Andy Kerr as representative of the the racing fraternity. To be mailed to MAAA.

GENERAL BUSINESS

 

Narromine State Championships.

General discussion in respect to costing.  There is an apparent anomaly in revenue and cost for the dinner with cost at $796 and amount received $546. Letter to be forwarded to Narromine club to clarify so the Treasurer can properly finalise the accounts. Meanwhile cheque to be forwarded for $888.50 being the total amount of $1,684.50 less $796 for dinner.

 

Moved M Comiskey seconded G Tansley that letter to Narromine club express appreciation. Carried.

 

Land Acquisition.

John McIntyre in his capacity as CLAS field purchasing officer gave a progress report. An email from George Car was tabled along with proposals from Mr Car to progress the matter.  Details of a parcel of land at Pitt Town currently on the market for $219k as provided by Thompson Real Estate were also tabled.

 

General discussion ensued and it was agreed that a letter be forwarded direct to MAAA secretary to have the whole matter of funds availability and terms and conditions clarified.

 

At this point the Chairman apologised for having to retire from the meeting due to another commitment.  The chair was taken by Vice President Mr G Tansley.

 

Racing and Speed Events at State Championships and general.

John Nolan gave a critique.  In his view:

 

            Events and order  -  good

            Number of events  -  good

Poor attendance at dinner  -   disappointing (possibly due to football grand final

Poor response to hospitality provided by Narromine club

Suggested a State Trophy for clubs based on a point system

Practice circle arrangement a cause for dispute.  A general discussion ensued on the protocol.

 

Control Line Rules  -  Postal Vote 5/2001

Andy Kerr managed collation of information for response to the proposals. Voting Summary Sheet to be completed and forwarded to MAAA.

 

F2B Rule Change Proposals

Joan McIntyre as representative of the working party gave a brief overview of the current status of the matter.

State Championships

Robert Owen advised the meeting that 2 events were cancelled due to insufficient entries (Bendix and Open Combat).  General discussion ensued and it was agreed that event fee be returned for events not held.

 

State Championships 2002

It was raised by Gary Tansley and received general concurrence that  Narromine should not be expected to host the event next year and we should start looking now for an alternative site.  A preference for the Sydney area was expressed to possibly attract more interstate competitors.

 

John Nolan will approach the RAAF.

 

Robert Owen said we should be receptive to any expression of interest.
