I Thy Anthem Fades sono una creatura nata nei primi del 1999, ricalcando le orme degli Ecatomb, death metal band esistente gia' dal '93 e con all' attivo un demo dal titolo "the tears of everlasting dream" uscito nel '97 . Il cambio del monicker, da Ecatomb a Thy Anthem Fades, riflette la svolta operata dalla band che aveva maturato un nuovo approccio musicale e concettuale, ed era quindi indispensabile chiudere con il passato ed iniziare un nuovo progetto che rispecchiasse meglio le caratteristiche della band .

Il gruppo e' sempre dedito al death metal (di stampo svedese) con caratteristiche ben riconoscibili quali l'aggressivita', la potenza, e la velocita' a cui fanno da alter ego parti piu' malinconiche e melodiche . La nuova visione del gruppo e' proprio questa, contrapporre spunti tra loro apparentemente contrastanti che assieme formano il concetto THY ANTHEM FADES, ossia
la dicotomia tra bellezza e malinconia che sfocia nel sentimento ricorrente causato dalla paura di perdere l'uno (bellezza) per trovare l'altro (malinconia) _ J. Keats . Nel giugno '99 la band ha dato vita al 1° demo dal titolo "Desperate Passion..." , composto da 3 brani per una durata di circa 21 min. , che rappresenta l' anello di congiunzione tra Ecatomb e Thy Anthem Fades ed ha raccolto pareri favorevoli sia tra i vari magazines nazionali (GRIND ZONE TOP DEMO (8/10) nel n.6/99 ; METAL SHOCK (3,5/5) nel n.292/293 di Agosto '99 ) che tra le fanzines. Il gruppo e' composto da un trio con Paolo Bruno alle chitarre e voci (nonche' compositore di tutte le musiche e testi) con accanto il fratello Ale (oggi dietro le pelli) che l'ho ha sempre accompagnato sin dai tempi degli Ecatomb ma nelle vesti di bassista. Per il momento la band si avvale di un session bass , comunque il fulcro del gruppo e' stato sempre composto dai fratelli Bruno. I THY ANTHEM FADES stanno preparando il nuovo materiale che formera' il prossimo demo previsto per la meta' del 2000, sulla base delle precedenti composizioni , progredendo il proprio death metal , facendolo incontrare con il black metal, l'avantgarde ed il classic metal.

Nei primi del 2000 Paolo Bruno ha dato vita ad un suo side project dal nome "Afterglow" con l' uscita di un demo-CD dal titolo "An autumn's tale" composto da 4 brani + intro, proponendo una mistura di metal, gothic e dark con l' utilizzo di tastiere ed una voce femminile .

The group was born in 1993 as a quintet with the name EPITAPH. Author of a brutal death metal, they recorded a demo with the title ‘THE LAST INNOCENTS’, released in 1995, wich marked the dissolution of the group owing to disagreements among its members. At this point Paolo and Ale Bruno, respectively guitar/voice and bass, decided to go on with the monicker ‘ECATOMB’ wich lasted until 1998. Two new members joined the group (guitar and drums). The band started a series of concerts but, again because of difference of views about music matters, in winter ’96 the group decided to go on as a trio.
In summer ’97 the recording of the demo ‘THE TEARS OF EVERLASTING DREAM’ started. It includes material composed between 1993/1997 and marks the entry of a new drummer in the band, Vince Rizzo.
In the first month of 1999 the band decided to change monicker into ‘THY ANTHEM FADES’. The formation was the same, with Paolo Bruno at the guitars and voice, Ale Bruno at the bass and Vince Rizzo at the drums.
The change of monicker, from ECATOMB into THY ANTHEM FADES, reflects the turn worked by the sicilian group since both the musical and conceptual approaches had, by that time, changed and it was necessary to brake with the past and start a new project.
The genre of music played by the THY ANTHEM FADES is still the death metal caracterised by aggressiveness, strenght and speed, opposed to melodic and melancholic parts.
This is the group’s new view: the contrast between apparently conflicting ideas wich combined togheter, give origin to the THY ANTHEM FADES’ concept, that is ‘the dichotomy between beauty and melancholy leading to the recurring feeling caused by the fear of loosing one thing (beauty) to find the other one (melancholy)’ – J. Keats.
In the june ’99 the first demo is released with the title ‘DESPERATE PASSION’ consisting of three tracks recorded at the HEARTMACHINE STUDIO and mastered at the AUREALAB STUDIO in Caltanissetta. This demo met with success everywhere and it has been voted as TOP DEMO on GRIND ZONE (the vote was 8/10).

The band has already started working on the songs of the new CD that is probably going to be released in the first months of 2000.
