I Groinchurn sono specializzati in un loro genere di grindcore diretto, ricordando grandi gruppi come Phobia, Agathocles, i Napalm Death dell’era “From Enslavement To Obliteration” e altri. Nessun trucco, nessuna stupida posa, solo veloce, diretto e demplice grind. Qualcosa in contrario?
La band si formò agli inizi del 1994 dalle ceneri dei Sepsis, un’altra leggendaria grindcore band dell’area. Originalmente intesa come un side-project, la “morte” dei Sepsis permise a Mark Chapman (chitarra) e Sergio Christina (batteria) di concentrarsi completamente sul loro nuovo gruppo. Christo Bester dei Desecrator di Veereniging entrò nella band come bassista e vocalist, ed il risultato immediato fu il demo “Human Filth”. A questo seguì il demo “Every Dog has its Decay”, che per ora ha venduto 700 copie. Non soddisfatti di questo, la band li inseritì nel CD “Four Ways To Misery” (MMI Records, Germania), a cui hanno partecipato le grind bands Nyctophobic, Caesarean Section e Winter Of Discontent. Ma questo, dicono loro, è solo l’inizio. I Groinchurn partirono per portare l’ hypergrind sudafricano nelle timide sponde europee, dove un’elevata qualità della vita e un alto livello di coscenza sociale lasciò gli europei completamente impreparati e inconsci del derviscio musicale sudafricano che si stava avvicinando...

Originally intended as a side-project, a defunct Sepsis allowed Mark Chapman (guitars) and Sergio Christina (drums) to concentrate fully on their new band. Christo Bester from fellow Veereniging-based Desecrator joined as bassist/vocalist, and the immediate result was the "Human filth" demo. This was followed quickly by the "Every Dog has its Decay" demo, which to date has moved over 700 copies. Definitely not content with this, the band got themselves a slot on the Four Ways To Misery CD (MMI Records, Germany), which also featured grind acts Nyctophobic, Caesarean Section and Winter of Discontent. But this, as they say, is only the beginning. Groinchurn is set to take South African hypergrind to the timid shores of Europe, where an easy standard of living and higher level of social consciousness leaves the Europeans completely unprepared and unaware of the South African musical dervish that approaches....
