EARLY SWEDISH FOOTBALLTABLES AND CHAMPIONSHIPDECIDING CUPFINALS This document deals with the very early swedish football championships. The first championship was played 1896 through a cuptournament. That form lasted until 1925, when it was decided that the winner of the Allsvenskan was swedish champion. Actually, no official champion was declared 1926-30. Only from 1931 was the winner of Allsvenskan officially declared champion. But the winners of said series 1926-30 is now to be considered swedish champions. To complicate things further, two champions was declared 1925, Brynäs IF, Gävle as cupwinners and GAIS, Göteborg as winners of Allsvenskan! In 1910 Sweden began to play the so called "Svenska Serien" (swedish series) between the best teams. But, at the same time the champion was declared through the cuptournament written about above. So the winner of svenska serien was not champions. Written below are the cupfinals from 1896-1925 as well as svenska serien from 1910 to 1923/24. Allsvenskan was installed 1924/25 and tables from then up to the present day can be found on the RSSSF archive. It should also be understood that the cuptournament above was played to declare a swedish champion. Later on (1941) a new cuptournament was installed, but there the winner was cupwinners.
