DDR (East Germany) 1st level alltimetable 1949/50 - 1990/91 Special thanks goes to Jan Schoenmakers for supplying most of the information on which this table is based, via the RSSSF. Also thanks to Ekkehard Adams of Dresden, Germany who cleared up a misunderstanding of mine. 1946/47 up to and including 1948/49; during these seasons no national championships were played, only regional ones. Autumn - Spring system 1949/50 - 1954/55 Spring - Autumn system 1955 - 1960 Autumn - Spring system 1961/62 (1 season) - 1990/91 1955 an intermediate autumn season was played as DDR then adopted the spring-autumn system instead of the reversed. 1961/62 they reversed back to the autumn-spring system. That season was played over 18 months. Concerning namechanges; scroll down the page. The issue of teams changing names have been rather confusing concering DDR. An * after a teams name means that they had points deducted, see the General Notes. 1. FC Berlin 35 911 450 212 249 1719-1107 1112 2. Dynamo Dresden 31 832 437 203 192 1637- 982 1077 3. But the game was re-played for some to the author unknown reason and the game then ended 0-0. (Actually I'm not sure that this is the game the author of the document I've used is refering to. It originally says:"Vorwärts Schwerin originally 3-4, replay resulted in 0-0". And Schwerins only 0-0 game in the cross-table was that at home to Babelsberg. Any 3-4 loss for Schwerin is not be found in the cross-table, either.) B) Fortuna KWU Erfurt - Eintr. H.W. Stendal declared void - reason unknown - points given to Erfurt. In the cross-table the result is given as 3-4 though. C) One extra game had to played as two teams in the relegation struggle ended on the same points. That game Altenburg - Anker Wismar which ended 3-2 is counted in the table above. 1950/51 A) A Playoff for the championship was needed as the top two ended on equal points, the result of that game was: Turbine Erfurt - Chemie Leipzig 0 - 2. It's counted in the table above. B) Chemie Leipzig - Turbine Halle originally 3-5; replay after protest resulted in 2-1. C) Stahl Altenburg - Motor Dessau declared void because of ineligible player; points given to Stahl Altenburg. D) Lichtenberg 1947 - Motor Dessau cancelled at halftime with score 0-1; replay ended 2-0. 1952/53 Playoff for the championship was needed as the top two ended on equal points, the result of that game was: Dynamo Dresden - Wismut Aue 3-2 aet. It's counted in the table above. 1953/54 Chemie Leipzig - Stahl Thale points given to Stahl Thale. Reason unknown. After this season Chemie Leipzig dissolved. 1956 SC Dynamo Berlin - SC Motor Karl Marx Stadt declared void. Dynamo had used an inelgible player, the points were given to Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt. 1961/62 SC Wismut Karl Marx Stadt had 2 points deducted. Reason unknown. 1962/63 A) After this season SC Lokomotiv Leipzig as club dissolved. B) Points of the matches Aufbau Magdeburg - Motor Jena and Chemie Halle - Aufbau Magdeburg given to the opponents of Aufbau Magdeburg. Reason unknown. 1963/64 Motor Zwickau - SC Dynamo Berlin declared void because of ineligible player on Motors part; points given to SC Dynamo Berlin. 1966/67 Wismut Gera had 2 points deducted, reason unknown. 1967/68 Vorwärts Berlin had 2 points deducted, reason unknown. Regarding SG Friedrichstadt: The F-archiv states that the club was merged with VVB Tabak Dresden and withdrew from the league after the 1949/50-season and that the 1st level space was overtaken by SG Deutsche Volkspolizei Dresden. But what then happened to the club is unknown. (An Empor Tabak Dresden club played in the DDR 3rd level (Bezirksliga Dresden) during the 1952/53-season and it is stated that they were promoted to that level.) Ekkehard Adams of Dresden claims that Friedrichstadt was dissolved after the 1949/50-season and that the players were distributed among other Dresden clubs.
