| Zerali was a playful, fearless thing, never concerned about trivial details and the like. His expertise lay in hunting and stalking and other such catlike activities. He was disapointed in his wings-after all, what good were they if they couldn't help him out on the ground? That is where he was most often, and that was where the best prey was found-at least in his opinion. As an more experienced creature in the arts of "hunting and gathering" as he put it, he had taken Silvanus under his wing, hoping to pass on some feline wisdom to the little canine whorling (who so desperately lacked in the above). Silvanus was always reluctant to go out with Zerali, for he often felt the fool. His catching abilities were minimal, if not nonexistant, and he was envious of Zerali's wings-a feature that Zerali would have gladly traded with him if it were possible. Zerali used one of those wings now, and placed it around the canine's shoulders, in a comradely type manner. "Just you wait, you'll catch something today. With my skills, and your nose, we can't miss!" Silvanus shrugged his shoulders with indifference. He didn't know what Zerali had in mind, but it normally wasn't anything that appealed to him. They approached a pond, and Zerali gestured towards it with a wingtip. "That, my friend, is where we're going today. Today, we fish!" Silvanus sighed. They'd been down this road before, and he hadn't caught a single thing. Nonetheless, he stepped up towards the pool and swiped his paw experimentally in the water. To his surprise, a fish lept up out of the water, barely avoiding his grasp. Struggling mightily to catch it with Zerali screaming "That's it, that's it! You've almost got the little guy!" he lost his stance and slipped on a slippery rock. Falling below the water, he took in a mouthful of something slimy and wet. Surfacing triumphantly, he showed Zerali his catch. "I caught it!" he yelled. Bounding up to Zerali, he dropped his catch at his feet, and then noticed that it had not been a fish that he had caught, but a hunk of seaweed. Zerali grimaced. "You most certainly did not! Canines," he said, rolling his eyes at his companion. |
