Xerphon was a whorling as cold as his markings, his soul icy. Everything that came out of his mouth was a bitter remark, every gaze criticizing. He was difficult to get along with and only seemed to be able to associate with others of his type, or with those whorlings of lizard like origin.
Talia had set aside a plot of land particularily for him, icy, with many caverns and hideaways for him, since he preferred to be in isolation. The only person he bonded with was Talia herself, and that in itself seemed to amaze the people that came to visit the sanctuary, for it seemed to be beyond Xerphon to form relationships of any kind.
Oftentimes, when he knew that she was coming, he'd crawl happily out of his cave and sit by her side, resting his beak in her lap, much as a housecat would curl itself up in it's owner's lap. He'd be content like that for hours, and eventually Talia would have to pry him out of her lap in order to get up and go get supper, or to feed the other animals.
He was possessive of his caretaker's attention, and would often start or provoke fights with other Everrealm creatures in order to hold her attention. Talia segregated him from the lot of them in order to curb his somewhat violent tendancies.
Shortly after arriving, Xerphon's attention was taken by another whorling, Raxiliv. The two, oddly enough, seemed to get along particularily well, and the other whorling took up residence with Xerphon, finding that the icy pools of the caverns were much to his liking.
Talia watched her two creatures with a smile, glad that Xerphon had finally found a friend of sorts. The two were quite alike...and at least she was no longer being chased around by a gryphon whorling twice her size! |
