He didn't know how long he laid there for, but he awoken by a peculiar sound. It sounded like a bird, but with a very different call. The sound didn't register for a few moments, but when it finally did, he sat bolt upright, draconic face swiveling from left to right, trying to determine the position of the sound. It was whistling! And only one creature did that... those blasted humans!
He thrashed his body around angrily. They've come to finish me off! he thought. Well I won't let them get me without a fight! He managed to bump his body about until he was in a favourable position. He waited for the human to round the corner...
Lilithiea had heard that the men who lived in the previous town she passed through had captured a large dragon like animal. She was willing to try find it and try to talk to it. After all, Lakegazer had said that she needed animals...and a dragon type animal would be just perfect! She hummed and whistled happily, quieting down as she rounded the corner where the men claimed that they left the beast. After all, she didn't want to startle it!
As she turned the corner, a figure jumped at her and pinned her to the ground. She could feel the jaws of the beast closing around her throat, and she closed her eyes, willing it to be all over. Suddenly the jaws released her, and the beast lumbered over to a corner.
"Tis only a baby!" said the beast quietly. "I don't hurt children. The only people I'm after are the ones that put me in these chains!" He looked at her cautiously and asked "Did those men send you here, or did you come here on your own free will child?" Stammering, Lili answered.
"My... my.. own fr...free will good whorling. To find creatures for my overseer Lakegazer." He nodded his approval at the girl's attentiveness.
"I'll tell you what," he said quietly, "we'll make a compromise. You release me from these chains, and I'll go with you to your master's." The girl's eyes shone with hope.
"Truely sir?" she asked grinning.
"Truely,"he replied, outstretching his forearms. "Now please, remove these bonds child." It took Lili all of moments to release him from his chains. "You may call me Serapis," he told her casually.
"I'm Lilithiea," she replied. The two shook hands-one large many clawed hand over a small, smooth and pale child's hand.
"Ready to go?" she asked, hoping he hadn't decided otherwise.
"Ready," he replied.
