| Nivern only had one friend, but that was more than he had ever had before-if you could even call her a friend. Tellus was basically the only Whorling that could stand his temper and behaviour simply by ignoring him, or fighting back. Tellus was one to be reckoned with, expecially when something bothered her, and in most cases, Nivern did, but she still tolerated him more than the others. Nivern galloped up to her, his complete and utter annoying and self absorbed self and strutted about importantly. "I just raced the fastest I've ever raced before. Faster than you've ever been," he said, smiliing smugly. Tellus just shook her head and continued eating. "I'm not slow like the rest of you lot," he continued. "I'm faster than any beast here." Tellus shrugged, although she was starting to get a bit irritated by now. "Even faster than you and... and all the Leagus!" he said, snorting for emphasis. By this time, Tellus' blood was boiling, simply because she was sick of all his self importance. She looked up at him, eyes smoldering. "Wanna bet?" she asked. "I could beat you with one less leg if I wanted to." Nivern sniffed hautily. "We'll see about that. I'll race you to the pond." Tellus simply nodded. Better to save her energy than to waste it on this bag of wind. She crouched down low, and on three she rocketed off, Nivern only slightly behind her. She knew that she'd easily beat him. As she neared the pond, she grinned smugly, a slight bit of payback forming. Slowing to an even trot, she sidled up next to Nivern, and with a massive shove, pushed him into the frigid waters. "Thought I'd cool ya down. Must be hot with all the racing you've been doing," she said, grinning slyly. Nivern spluttered and tossed his mane angrily. "That's cheating!" he said. She shrugged again. "Well, if you were truely as fast as you said you were, you would have beaten me a long time ago." And with that, she trotted casually over to the finish, eyes glimmering in triumph. |
