She shot a sidelong glance his way, hoping he wouldn't notice. He too was cuddled up with the other cub, sleeping quietly. Lately, things between she and Tyri had been awkward. She had these feelings for him..feelings that she didn't know how to address. She believed he felt the same. He acted so different around her now... everything from the endearing way he spoke to her, to the continued affection he poured on her. She, of course, reciprocated, but had no idea where this was going.
"Tyri?" she called out quietly. His head snaked up, amber eyes glistening in the darkness. So much for being asleep. "Tyr, do you ever think about what's going to happen now? I mean, now that we've found a home, and have little ones to look after... I mean, what's going to happen next?" she asked quietly. He regarded her solumnly, a tiny bit of apprehension flickering in those bright eyes.
"I'm not sure sweetheart. How can we ever be sure?" he rested his muzzle in his paws and continued. "We shouldn't make those decisions yet. We're not even adults yet, but I promise you, when we are, I'll have a lot to say to you." She looked deep into those rich, mysterious eyes and pondered. Just say it! she thought. She groaned in exasperation and shook her head.
A strange tingling sensation started to spread up through her paws into her body. She stared at them alarmingly, and noticed that Tyri too was standing up looking at himself strangely. She shot him a questioning look.
"Is something happening to you too? Do you feel funny?" she asked. He nodded, looking slightly alarmed. Suddenly a brilliant flash of white light appeared, enveloping both of them. Lucina recognized it instantly as the same type of light that had been present when she had changed into a teen and laughed with joy.
As the light slowly faded, she glanced over at Tyri cautiously. Light played off of his bronzed fur, glimmering brightly like the gold in his muzzle. He bounded over towards her, eyes filled with hope and affection.
"I promised you, and I'm going to keep that promise," he said solemnly. "There's so many things I wanted to talk to you about... so many things I wanted to ask you, but wanted to make sure that I felt the same way into adulthood. Now I know for sure." He looked deeply into her eyes, and proceeded. "I've grown up with you, and during that period of time, I've come to love you." He paused again, nervously. "Lucina, you are meant to be in my future. Will you be my mate?" he asked, suddenly timid. She pounced on him, covering him with licks.
"Of course you silly Egyptan!" she replied. "I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be with."
